Residential Concept
Lakeview Residence
East Legon, Accra · Concept Project
Challenge
Design a luxurious lake-facing family home that feels unmistakably Ghanaian while meeting international standards of contemporary luxury. The sloping site toward the lake required careful handling to celebrate the view rather than obscure it.
Approach
The concept centers on a split-level home that steps down toward the lake. A double-height atrium acts as the social heart of the house, with a landscaped courtyard bringing natural light deep into the plan. Natural stone cladding, odum timber screening, and terrazzo floors ground the home in its Ghanaian context while clean lines give it a timeless modern feel.
Outcome
A concept that balances modern luxury with warm Ghanaian character — featuring a courtyard inspired by the traditional compound home, full smart home integration, rainwater harvesting, and solar panels. A home designed for today and built to last for decades.
Key Design Decisions
- Orientation: Main living spaces face north-east to capture the lake view and prevailing breeze
- Materials: Local sandstone cladding, odum timber screening, and terrazzo floors throughout
- Smart integration: Full home automation including lighting, security, and climate control
- Sustainability: Rainwater harvesting, solar panels, and passive ventilation reduce running costs
Commercial Concept
Executive Office Suite
Airport City, Accra · Concept Project
Challenge
Transform a raw 1,200 square metre shell space across two floors into a world-class executive headquarters for a pan-African investment firm — reflecting their brand values of confidence, precision, and African excellence.
Approach
The concept draws on the geometry and patterns of traditional Ghanaian kente weaving, translated into a modern architectural language. A custom reception wall of laser-cut brass panels serves as the centrepiece. The palette of deep charcoal, warm gold, and rich terracotta is drawn from the Ghanaian landscape.
Outcome
A concept for a bold, contemporary executive environment that is unmistakably African without relying on cliché. Bespoke furniture by Ghanaian craftspeople, a living moss wall in the executive lounge, state-of-the-art AV in all boardrooms, and specialist acoustic panels in open-plan areas.
Key Design Decisions
- Colour palette: Deep charcoal, warm gold, and rich terracotta drawn from the Ghanaian landscape
- Furniture: Bespoke pieces by Ghanaian craftspeople combining traditional and contemporary forms
- Technology: State-of-the-art AV systems in all boardrooms with seamless video conferencing
- Biophilic elements: Living moss wall in the executive lounge and tropical plants throughout
Mixed-Use Concept
Skyline Mixed-Use Tower
Cantonments, Accra · Concept Project
Challenge
Design a landmark mixed-use tower combining high-end residential apartments, ground-floor retail, and a rooftop amenity deck on a tight urban plot in one of Accra's most prestigious neighbourhoods — while meeting complex setback requirements.
Approach
A tapered tower form steps back at the upper floors, reducing visual mass at street level while creating generous private terraces on the residential floors. The facade combines glass curtain walling with expressed concrete fins that provide passive solar shading on the west elevation.
Outcome
A landmark concept for a 24-unit luxury residential tower with ground-floor retail, two basement parking levels with automated stacking, and a rooftop amenity deck featuring an infinity pool, landscaped terrace, and residents lounge with 360-degree city views.
Key Design Decisions
- Tower form: Tapered profile reduces visual mass and creates private terraces at upper levels
- Facade: Concrete fins provide passive solar control on the west elevation reducing cooling loads
- Ground floor: Retail activated by double-height glazed frontage facing the street
- Rooftop: Infinity pool, landscaped deck, and residents lounge with 360-degree city views
